Yes! There are many reasons why a business may not have or may not want to share a physical address. With drug treatment or residential treatment centers for addiction, mental health, or other behavioral health businesses patient confidentiality is often an issue. For other businesses, you may serve customers at their location, or maybe your business is run from your home or virtual office location. Also, service providers such as plumbers, contractors, electricians, etc. would be more relevant to their potential customers by listing their service area rather than their physical address.
While you cannot claim a business with no physical address you can choose not to display the address and use a “service area” instead. To accomplish this log into your Google My Business console and find the info tab. Due to frequent updates, your sidebar may not appear exactly like the screenshot below.
When you go to the info section you will see your address. Click the pencil icon to edit. To hide your address from public view click the “clear address” button.
Click “Apply” to remove your address successfully.
Next, make sure you add the correct “service areas” to your Google My Business Listing. By adding the correct service areas this will allow you to still show up for relevant local searches. The service areas section is directly below where you updated your address.
There you have it. Your business will now show up for relevant local searches but you have hidden your physical address from public view.
